Title: A closer look to the legislative framework on food and feed uses

The microalgae sector is gaining attention however; this industry is still seen as infant. The EnhanceMicroAlgae is an Interreg Atlantic Arc project which aims to increase the competiveness of microalgae in the European Atlantic Arc Area. Academia and industry undertake deep analyses on the most critical factors that limit the consolidation of this sector. The introduction of new food and feed products on the market is highly regulated and can be very expensive. A detailed overview of these legislative framework is important to clarify stakeholders but at the same time encourage the academic community to a more industry-driven research.
