"Exploring marine ecosystems using eDNA metabarcoding"

The seminar will focus on the use of metabarcoding approach to capture the diversity of marine microbial communities. Metabarcoding applications, at spatial and temporal scales, and their integration with other kind of data (i.e. environmental parameters, morphological data and other global metabarcoding datasets available), will be illustrated in protist. Emerging patterns from metabarcoding assessments, can help ecologists to understand mechanisms of taxa interactions and geographic distributions providing baseline studies to use for future inferences, also in response to anthropogenic impacts.
