Integrated in the celebrations of its 20th anniversary on February 29, 2020, CIIMAR organizes the international SOS conference “Sustainable Ocean Strategies” taking place at Porto Cruise Terminal, with the participation of several world references on the conservation of the oceans.

 

The conference will have some national presences such as Mr. Minister of the Sea, Ricardo Serrão Santos, Mr. Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, and Miguel Marques, partner of Price Waterhouse Coopers, responsible for the affairs of the sea economy.

 

The SOS conference is also attended by major international names. Among them is Nancy Knowlton, Chair of Marine Sciences at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and scientific leader in the Census of Marine Life and Peter Heffernan, the latest member of the European Commission's mission for the oceans, seas and healthy coastal and inland waters of the new Horizon Europe program (2021-2027).

 

The SOS Conference will take place on February 29th at 2:30 pm on the 3rd floor of the Porto Cruise Terminal. Access is free, but registrations are mandatory.
