The Natural History and Science Museum of the University of Porto is an important infrastructure of the University. With approximately 850.000 specimens and collections ranging from Zoology, Botany, Geology, or Ethnography, the museum provides services to the academic and scientific communities. This services include, but are not limited to, long-term storage of natural history specimens, support to cataloguing and curatorial practices, digitization and data dissemination through international databases and portals, provide access to the historical collections, collaboration in scientific projects, and promoting scientific literacy through exhibitions, talks, etc. In this this talk we will present a brief overview of the history of the museum, its current and future facilities, and highlight the opportunities and services available for the researchers of CIIMAR.
