OCEANUS SEMINAR SERIES 05 MAY

OCEANUS SEMINAR SERIES | Gonçalo Espregueira Themudo | 05 May | 11h30
Title: Scholia: Open Bibliometrics for Researchers
Name: Gonçalo Espregueira Themudo
Increasingly, researchers need to showcase their scientific productivity, but most tools are either restricted in their use (such as Clarivariate Analytics, Web of Science) or free but under the control of for profit companies (e.g. Google Scholar). I will here present Scholia, a scientometric visualization tool based on the open collaborative database, Wikidata. Wikidata is part of the Wikimedia family of websites, the most famous being Wikipedia, and includes information unrestricted by copyright on more than 40 million scholarly articles, authors and institutions. In this seminar, I will demonstrate the use of the tool for individual researchers, groups, and institutions as well as for topics. I will also briefly show how anyone can add and correct information using automated tools.
