In this seminar, I'll offer a small tribute to my friend and mentor, Dan Tawfik. I'll describe my work from his lab related to the evolution of enzymes, in general, and also in biofilms; as well as some ideas and preliminary data of the research we are pursuing in my recently founded lab.
