OCEANUS SEMINAR SERIES 2 NOVEMBER

OCEANUS SEMINAR SERIES | Eunice Ferreira | 2 NOV | 11:30
Title: Turning the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 into an on-demand biotechnology factory
Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 was the first photosynthetic organism to have its genome sequenced, rapidly becoming a model cyanobacterium. The seminar will highlight that the development of molecular tools and customized chassis is relevant to make this organism a sustainable platform to produce value-added compounds, such as compatible solutes.
About: Eunice Ferreira carried out bachelor and master studies at CIIMAR and i3S (U. Porto, Portugal), respectively. She has worked at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (Japan) as a visiting researcher right before undertaking doctoral studies at i3S, with a stay at Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (Spain). Eunice has recently joined the CNP group (CIIMAR) as research technician in microbial genetics and molecular biology.
The seminar will take place at CIIMAR headquarters (Boca da Baleia).
External members of CIIMAR should send an email to slopes@ciimar.up.pt, requesting authorization to enter the Leixões Terminal area
