SPECIAL OCEANUS SEMINAR SERIES 25 NOVEMBER

SPECIAL OCEANUS SEMINAR SERIES | Sérgio Ávila | 25 NOV | 14h30

Title: Marine Island Biogeography: theory and practice

In this talk, the results of over 20 years of research in the Macaronesian archipelagos will presented, which led to the publication of the Sea Level Sensitive Dynamic model of Marine Island Biogeography. This theory is nowadays considered by experts in marine biogeography as the most complete model, as it is the only that takes into account the effects of the glacial-interglacial cycles and the corresponding sea-level oscillations.
I will also advertise the Azores Summer School in Marine Island (Palaeo)Biogeography, that will be held at Santa Maria Island 8Azores), 09-21 July, 2023. The AzSS – Azores Summer School follows the need and ambition to create a complete, high-quality multidisciplinary course on Marine Island (Palaeo)Biogeography, gathering internationally recognized experts to present state-of-the-art knowledge in diverse areas.
