Oceanus Seminar

Miguel Fonseca will present a seminar entitled "Large-scale computational pipeline and deep phylogenies estimation" at 12.00 am at CIIMAR facilities (level 3).

The technological advances of next-generation sequencing are revolutionizing the field of molecular biology. The rapidly increasing amount of genomes and transcriptomes publicly available across a wide variety of taxa is providing valuable but vast quantities of data. With data production no longer being a limiting factor, we face several challenges in automation processes such as data collection, cleaning, and analyses. In this talk, I will present a few examples describing genomic pipelines/methods that we applied in our projects to deal with massive quantities of molecular data from a wide range of taxonomic groups. I will focus on a large-scale computational pipeline that we are developing for the phylogenetic estimation of the eukaryotic tree of life.
