The XIX Iberian Symposium on Marine Biology Studies (SIEBM XIX) will be organized by CIIMAR and will take place in Porto, Portugal, from 5th to 9th September 2016.

The symposium with already 40 years of existence will give particular emphasis to the areas historically covered by the SIEBM editions. The scientific program will include sessions in five main areas: (i) Ecology, biodiversity and vulnerable ecosystems; (ii) Global changes, invasive species and conservation; (iii) Oceanography, modelling and ecosystem dynamics; (iv) Fisheries, aquaculture and biotechnology; and (v) Ecotourism, environmental education and science outreach.

The congress will be organized with parallel oral sessions and poster exhibitions, and will include several invited plenary lectures made by world renowned marine biology researchers. Official symposium languages are Portuguese, Spanish and English.
