The Portuguese Navy vessel Creoula has docked last Friday at Porto Cruise Terminal. On board were 31 students of the Itinerant University of the Sea and their tutors who had the opportunity to visit CIIMAR laboratories and interact with CIIMAR researchers.

The UIM (Itinerant University of the Sea) was created in 2006, and is a joint program of University of Porto, University of Oviedo and Navy School, in which CIIMAR is a partner. This course aims to give to all students the opportunity to actively participate in the navigation tasks and to log their daily activity. The Navigation component is complemented with Academic training, held on land and in a seminar basis, which is the responsibility of the promoting institutions and privileging the thematic of entrepreneurship. Students will also have the possibility to work on a project which after presentation and defense will earn them 6 ECTS.

CIIMAR members and invited guests also had the opportunity to have a guided visit to the navy vessel.
