FCT has announced the 2nd edition of the Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus 2018. This call envisages the hiring of 300 researchers, in four contract levels – junior researcher, assistant researcher, principal researcher and coordinating researcher. PhD holders in all scientific fields can apply to carry out their scientific research or technological development activity in Portugal, integrated in R&D units funded by FCT.

 

We invite candidates to apply to this call having CIIMAR – Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research as host institution. CIIMAR is a leading research and advanced training institution of the University of Porto, working on the frontier of knowledge and innovation. CIIMAR fields of expertise cover three research domains: GLOBAL CHANGES AND ECOSYSTEM SERVICES, AQUACULTURE AND SEAFOOD QUALITY, and MARINE BIOTECHNOLOGY, addressing important economic and societal challenges in line with the goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The centre uses knowledge-based approaches to promote the natural capital and the sustained management of marine resources through monitoring of ecosystems health, optimization of aquaculture, and biotechnological exploitation of the resources for environmental and human health applications. CIIMAR hosts 180 PhD researchers with diverse scientific backgrounds and annually publishes about 400 ISI publications, providing importante critical mass and excellent scientific environment. The centre features well-equipped facilities for research, innovation, technology transfer and training and is actively involved in international networks of excellence and infrastructures (e.g. EMB, Euromarine, ICES, GEOBON, EMBRC, EMSO).
