CIIMAR has a new direction board for 2019 - 2021

On the Jan 22 took place the inauguration of the new board of directors of CIIMAR for the period 2019-2021. The new board of directors is chaired by Vitor Vasconcelos and the members are the researchers Luísa Valente, Rodrigo Ozório, Ana Paula Mucha and Isabel Sousa Pinto.
For the third time, Vitor Vasconcelos is elected as director of CIIMAR and he points his priorities to embrace the innovation growth we assisted in the last years, boost it in a more sustainable growth of CIIMAR and he reinforced the intention of CIIMAR to strengthen the relationship with the University of Porto.
After succeeding with the mission of moving to the new building of the Porto Terminal Cruise, prof Vitor Vasconcelos is confident that CIIMAR has excellent conditions to continue with the scientific excellence and autonomy, to attract outstanding researchers and funding, to stablish new collaborations with companies and industries, to bring the general public closer to science and ocean literacy and to provide services related with the Sea.
Vítor Vasconcelos hold a PhD degree in Biology from Faculty of Sciences of University of Porto (FCUP). He is a Full Professor at FCUP and principal researcher of the Group of Blue Biotechnology and Ecotoxicology (LEGE lab). He is member of the European Marine Board since 2011 and a regular evaluator Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
