The KOM of the COST Action CA18225 - Taste and Odor in early diagnosis of source and drinking Water Problems – WaterTOP took place on 28 August 2019 at the headquarters of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) in Brussels.

 

With high experience in the risk assessment of cyanobacterial metabolites that can impart water odor and taste, CIIMAR is represented on the management committee of this action by the researchers Vitor Vasconcelos (Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto) and Rosário Martins (Professor at the Porto Polytechnic School of Health).

 

The WaterTOP action lasts for 4 years and its main objective will be to increase European capacities to manage water odor and taste problems by creating the first European network of multidisciplinary experts, end users and other stakeholders. An innovative and integrative approach will be adopted in order to incorporate new intersectoral knowledge, the food sectors, new international collaborations, a vertical methodology for exploring risk assessment of the strategies and and horizontal integration with overlapping sectors such as aquaculture, manufacturers of water-contact materials, sensors and analysis technologies.
