During the VI workshop of the Doctoral Program in Animal Science, held at ICBAS - Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar (ICBAS-UP), September 13, that three students from CIIMAR-UP were the winners of the three best communication categories: oral, pitch and poster.

 

Organized by the students themselves, the sixth edition of the Doctoral Program in Animal Science workshop was attended by two of the world's leading experts in animal nutrition: Sachi Kaushik who took stock of the current state of organic aquaculture, and Richard Dewhurst who focused on the importance of cow rumen microbiome - based biomarkers in improving the feed efficiency of these animals.

 

All students enrolled in the doctoral program had the opportunity to present their latest results to an audience of about 100 participants. According to Jorge Dias, director of the SANFEED advisory board, the event "has reached a level comparable to the best congresses in the world”. Despite the high quality of all the works, the highlights were the communications of three students with work in progress at CIIMAR: Marina Machado (ICBAS-UP | CIIMAR | i3S | IBMC) was the winner in the category of best oral presentation; Lourenço Ramos-Pinto (ICBAS-UP | CIIMAR | SPAROS) won the best pitch presentation and Luís Baião (ICBAS-UP | CIIMAR | SENSETEST) won the best poster presentation.

 

The next workshop will be held on September 18, 2020 at ICBAS.
