AGRITOX semiannual meeting

The AGRITOX semiannual meeting – “Prevention and mitigation of food contamination by mycotoxins due to climate change”, took place at Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland, on October 24, 2019. This meeting was attended by all consortium partners, including the University of Porto/CIIMAR, University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), Queen's University Belfast (United Kingdom), TEAGASC (Ireland), CIFGA (Spain), Diputacion de Pontevedra, Phytopathological Park Areeiro (Spain), Securite Sanitaire de l ' food, from the Environment and Work (France), and the Agricultural Cooperative of Vila do Conde (Portugal).

CIIMAR was represented by Vitor Vasconcelos (AGRITOX project coordinator in Portugal) and Mariana Oliveira. This project is funded by the Interreg Atlantico program and aims to study the contamination of food and feed by fungi and their toxins - mycotoxins. CIIMAR will be responsible for the isolation and study of marine fungi from macroalgae that can be used as fertilizers and feed components for aquaculture, as well as the potential contamination of feed with fungi and mycotoxins. In October 2020 the meeting of this project will be held at CIIMAR.
