CIIMAR in the search for alternative diets to enhance aquaculture production

Researchers from CIIMAR-UP the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS-UP) discover that marine hydrolysates can be a good option to improve European sea bass plant diets in aquaculture increasing its growth and immune response.
In the study led by researcher Luísa Valente of CIIMAR / ICBAS, recently published in the international scientific journal Aquaculture, in Open Access, the work team describes promising data on the immune response and improving the growth of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) when hydrolysates are used Peruvian anchovy and giant squid to strengthen diets rich in vegetable proteins.
