CIIMAR / AIR CENTRE affiliation agreement

CIIMAR signed an affiliation agreement with the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR CENTRE) in order to establish sustainable collaboration projects between the two institutions in order to better explore opportunities in the domain of Marine Biodiversity.
The agreement lies on the recognition of common responsibilities between CIIMAR and AIR Centre to achieve the goals of UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. In addition, both institutions understand the mutual benefits of promoting the development of collaborative studies, projects and other research and training activities. The agreement also reinforces the Lagos Declaration by recognizing the role of National and Regional Centres like CIIMAR to support ongoing consolidation of the AIR Centre as an international collaboration network.
The main objective of the agreement is to align activities in order to maximize each organization's relevance and value to society, enhancing mutual resources and minimizing overlaps and redundancies. To accomplish this, CIIMAR and the AIR Centre will collaborate to identify mutual scientific and technological interests, experiences and networks, strength knowledge-transfer and capacity-building capabilities, stimulate joint dissemination and engagement activities.
