CIIMAR integrates Challenger 150 program for exploring the deep sea.

 

Named after the deepest point on the planet - Challenger Deep -  a new program involving  scientists from 17 countries around the world aims to bring to the surface the knowledge that is hidden in the depths of the oceans. Challenger 150 aims to be reference during the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

 

 

The Challenger 150 details have already been published in Frontires in Marine Science as well as an awareness article in Nature Ecology and Evolution. The scientists involved claim that the Decade announced by the UN provides a unique opportunity to unite the international scientific community to make a giant leap in our knowledge of the depths of the ocean.
