ATLANTIDA RL5 meeting

The first meeting of the ATLANTIDA RL5 - Biotechnological valorization of marine biomass took place yesterday, 22 Feb.
Coordinators and researchers from CIIMAR, UMinho and Reitoria / U.Porto were present in the meeting. On the agenda of the meeting were the topics of the communication strategy of RL5 and the planning of future activities, collaborations and exchange of samples for investigation.
The Research Line 5 of ATLANTIDA address the biotechnological potential of selected marine macroorganisms, namely brown macroalgae and invertebrates, envisaging the proposal of new applications for biomedicine based in marine origin materials.
By showing the biotechnological value of materials isolated from model organisms, RL5 aims to engage stakeholders in their industrial exploitation, thus establishing them as assets to the North region.
ATLANTIDA - Platform for the monitoring of the North Atlantic Ocean and tools for the sustainable exploitation of the marine resources - is co-financed by the Norte Portugal Regional Operational Programme (NORTE 2020), under the PORTUGAL 2020 Partnership Agreement and through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
