MARINE FORESTS EVENT AT 2022 UN OCEAN CONFERENCE

We are pleased to announce that CIIMAR will be hosting the "Marine Forests of the Portuguese Coast" side event, within the 2022 UN Ocean Conference, on the 30 June, at 12h, at the River Stage.
Marine Forests are among Earth's most iconic and diverse habitats, with huge blue carbon potential, supporting different economic activities and thus fundamental for implementing Goals 13 and 14. However, these habitats have declined worldwide, and the Portuguese coast is no exception.
CIIMAR is currently working to evaluate the state and trends of Marine Forests, how to best manage them and develop methods for reforestation, through different international projects. Stakeholders' input is essential to ensure the usefulness and applicability of the results in real coastal management scenarios. So, join us in this ambition to protect and restore our Marine Forests and all benefits that these habitats represent!
