CIIMAR researcher Sara Antunes acknowledged by Elsevier
CIIMAR researcher Sara Antunes was acknowledged by Elsevier for contributing to open science and for the role her research plays in tackling global challenges, while advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Within the ReDEFine project, Sara Antunes conducted her research to refine biomonitoring strategies, specifically in evaluating the ecological quality of water reservoirs. Her work focused on the integration of biochemical parameters to enhance the precision of ecological assessments.
Elsevier's recognition of Sara Antunes' contributions underscores the direct alignment of her work with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By focusing on fragile ecosystems like reservoirs, essential for several human activities, her research supports SDG 6 for clean water and sanitation. Additionally, these reservoirs originate from the construction of dams, designed to produce energy in a clean and sustainable manner, thereby contributing to SDG 7.
