NOR-WATER: Pollutants of emerging concern in watersheds from Galicia-Northern Portugal: new tools to risk management
The central objective is to identify sources and major emerging pollutants (EPs) in the Northern Portugal / Galicia watersheds (Minho, Lima, Ria Vigo) and to develop new analytical methods, innovative wastewater removal technologies, new ecotoxicological and predictive tools for EPs that pose a potential risk to ecosystems. It will help improve water quality and provide information for the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). It falls under axis 3, priority 6F, to reduce the environmental risks associated with EPs by contributing to joint management of high value cross-border spaces. Results will be transferred to public institutions involved in the implementation of the WFD and technology companies.
