CIIMAR has an extensive and exciting Outreach Programme addressed to all society sectors. Our Communication and Outreach Office is responsible for the development and implementation of several national and international Ocean Literacy and science dissemination campaigns, such as Ocean Action, OceanLab and Ponds with Life, in order to improve the knowledge and public perception of science, aquatic biodiversity and conservation.

 

CIIMAR participates in numerous public events and science communication displays aimed to promote the dissemination
of CIIMAR’s research to society, such as the Mostra UP, Business2Sea, Biomarine and AquaPorto, among others. CIIMAR
Open Day, coinciding with Leixões Port Day at the third saturday of September, constitutes our major public dissemination event, with an average of 20.000 visitors.

 

The CIIMAR Communication Office is also responsible for a broad educational offer, which includes guided visits to CIIMAR, practical activities and lectures (presential or online), and field activities (e.g. beach cleaning and observation of intertidal biodiversity). All activities will follow Covid-19 security norms and are available by booking in advance through this LINK.
