José da Silva holds a PhD in Oceanography at the University of Southampton (U.K.). He worked as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton (U.K.) until 2000, when he was appointed as Lecturer at the University of Lisbon (Department of Physics). In 2010 he was appointed Associate Professor at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto. José is interested in many aspects of satellite oceanography, submesoscale and synthetic aperture radar (SAR). Da Silva is Guest Investigator at WHOI, Massachusetts, USA. He has co-authored more than 40 scientific publications indexed in the ISI web of knowledge.
