Maria Teresa Borges graduated in Biology (1981), having MSc (1985) and PhD (1993) in Biology. She is a Teacher at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, since 1980, being Auxiliary Professor with Permanent Nomination from 1998 till present. She is also a Researcher at CIIMAR since its foundation. Her research interests focus on Applied Microbiology (Bacterial and Microalgal Biofiltration processes), Aquaculture (Recirculation systems, dissolved CO2) and Environmental Biotechnology (Saline Wastewater Treatment and Valorization via Integrated Systems). She has vast experience in supervising students, managing research projects (e.g. RACEWAYS, AQUAMONITOR, RASORGMAT) and publishing in different types of scientific media.
