André Manuel Gomes dos Santos

André Santos, graduated in Applied Biology in 2015 and has Master degree in Ecology, both in Minho University. In 2018, he was awarded with a mix FCT PhD scholarship, to infer the phylogeny, demography and adaptive evolution on freshwater bivalves from High-throughput Sequencing data. The work will be developed between Portugal, AEE and AGE laboratories from CIIMAR, and Canada, Département de Sciences Biologiques from Université de Monteréal. The PhD proposal aims to develop new molecular resources and apply new genomic tools in freshwater bivalves, with a central objective of sequencing, assembling and annotating the first whole genome of the noble species Margaritifera margaritifera.
