Gianmaria Giannini

Dr Gianmaria Giannini is a researcher at CIIMAR and the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). His background is in engineering, science and technology applied within the marine environment. He concluded a PhD on wave power, focusing on earth-reacting wave energy converts and an MSc in offshore renewable energy, at the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department of the University of Strathclyde, UK. He is currently working on the R&D of marine renewable energy systems (MRES) within the European project PORTOS, coordinated by FEUP. He was part of 6 national and international projects in marine energy and is the author of over 20 scientific papers. He was full-time working as a research specialist for two MRE private companies during intense R&D projects concerning technologies of TRL above 6. Apart from MRES, his research interests are in marine science, electronics & programming, climate change and sustainable development.
